This is the house on Gladys and 3rd in Long Beach Where I spent the better part
of 5 months converting it into a duplex at a cost of approximately $150k.
Thanks to the owner Terry Endersen for the pictures and the job!
Note the window to the right which we converted into French Doors.
Some images will enlarge when you click on them.

The doors came from the late Michael Landon’s house. We custom built the jambs.

Note the addition of concrete steps, duplex panel, fence, awning, facias, paint, roof...
I need to get a better picture from the same angle though… I will later…

Believe it or not this is the same wall as the picture below it!

We opened the wall and added a door to the bathroom from the kitchen. New tile and paint as well of course.

Same kitchen… this picture was taken from where the new bathroom door was later added.

New sink, blinds, tile, paint, stove, recessed lights, ventilation fan, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Same Kitchen… the old owners were pigs!

Cabinet hardware was also replaced. Ceramic tile was used on the counter top, porcelain on the floors.

Same Kitchen… you probably guessed we had fun with patching and painting…

We recessed the fridge into the wall where there is a closet on the other side. Closet is 2 pix down…

To answer your question: Yes, the entire house smelled as bad as it looked!

Here’s that closet. We gutted it and added some $20 doors with $100 redwood trim. New carpet in this room.

We closed off the door in this picture to separate the two sides of the house to make it a duplex.

Where the sink is now is where the door was that connected both sides of the house together.
We also replaced all of the plumbing and electrical in the house.

We replaced these windows with those Michael Landon French doors.

We also reframed the wall here. The electrical panels are also recessed into this wall on the other side.

They put a cheesy book shelf on top of this built in cabinetry.

It looks better without it, and new paint, and a new outlet for whatever…

That’s Terry in the messy living room. That’s a Murphy bed.

We turned the Murphy bed into an entertainment center… note all the outlets. Refurbished floors too!

Thanks for stopping by!
